Interestingly, unlike sequels, a prequel’s story takes place in the past. However, not every prequel is equal.
War for the Planet of the Apes (Spoiler Alert!) ended the trilogy with Caesar leading the apes against the final humans.
The film feels like it leads directly into the original Planet of the Apes film while also ending its own story in an effective way.
